Veterans Aid hostel welcomes Royal visitor.

HRH The Duke of Kent made a private visit to Veterans Aid’s East London hostel on 4 November to meet residents and staff. New Belvedere House is home to 57 ex-Servicemen drawn from all branches of the Armed Forces.

The Duke was met by manager Pat O’Connor MBE and escorted by CEO of Veterans Aid Dr Hugh Milroy. His tour included the residents’ TV lounge, recreation room, gym and new computer suite.

Dr Milroy said “We were delighted to welcome HRH to New Belvedere House which occupies a unique place in the Veterans charity world. Under Pat O’Connor’s management it is a friendly and welcoming place of safety where people of all ages receive the help they need to get back on their feet.”

During his visit the Duke chatted to ex-Fusilier Jonathan Fullan who has just completed a short course at Ruskin College.
