Howard League – VA’s CEO Joins Advisory Group

The Howard League for Penal Reform has launched an independent inquiry into former armed service personnel in prison.

The inquiry will seek to discover the reasons why veterans enter the penal system, investigate how former armed service personnel can be given appropriate support to prevent offending and look for good practice and new ideas.

The inquiry will be chaired by Sir John Nutting QC, one of the country’s leading barristers. VA’s CEO, Dr Hugh Milroy, is one of the advisors.

He said, “This is an important step forward for the Veteran community and I am delighted and honoured to have been asked to assist with the inquiry. The Howard League is immensely credible and influential; as such, only good can come of this inquiry”.
